bR@niG@n buNcHThe$e pEop!e R cR@Zy October 15 Long Time-No SeeWe had a great visit last week with Samantha and her friend, Dave. It has been 8 or 10 years since we have seen her and she has really grown up. They stayed for 3 days and took in the "sights" of Amarillo. I am adding some pictures we took at the Plaza where we shared a family meal together. It was really great to see her and we all hope she comes back again soon. Nice to meet Dave, also.
July 28 RV VacationCamp Texas
Looks like the Branigans have officially reached the "senior" camping club. We picked up our new 26ft. Homestead RV on Tuesday and headed to Colorado. What an adventure!!! After years of tents and pop up campers, this should be a breeze. Not! Have you any idea how many things can go wrong while you are learning about a new RV. Thankfully, there were many seasoned RV'ers that were there to help.
We arrived at Pitkin campground on Wednesday after an 11 hour drive only to find that the campground was full. And did I fail to mention that it was pouring rain? We serched for another spot and found an abandoned campsite a few miles away. After about an hour there, my altitude sickness kicked in full force and we had to break camp and head into Gunnison where we spent the first night at the KOA. (where there was a Christian Harley Riders Conventon going on!) We went back to the campgrounds Thurdsay and were able to acquire a spot as someone was leaving. What luck! We set up Camp Texas and had a greart time from then on. Rick, however, spent most of the time reading the owners manual to to RV. We had problems keeping the battery charged but our neighbors were so kind to help out with generators and power cords.
We had a great time in spite of the minor inconvienences. We saw a bear on Raton Pass on the way to Colorado. We also saw deer, beavers and mountain goats close to our camp. It was a great week to be camping. Turned out it was Pitkin Days all week and there was a fishing contest for kids. We took our little guy down to enter, but alas, no fish for us. We went back to the pond later in the day and finally caught a fish. Actually Dustin caught it with a little help from little buddy. We had fun playing family games of Farkle, Scattergories, Texas Uno and (go figure) Go Fish.
Can't wait to actually "go fish" again. (hopefully with a generator!)
